Mission Trip Update!!

I am so excited because we found out a little more about our trip this morning! Our team leader e-mailed us to give us a few more details about what we will be doing at the orphanage.
First, our first payment of $1400 each ($2800) total is due by May 10. With God's help and several of you, we made it exactly! Thank you all so much! Thank you to our friends Kevin and Traci and their family for their donation! You put us over the top! Please pray for us as we continue to try to raise the money to pay for the trip and provide extra for the needs of the orphanage. We have two garage sales coming up in the next couple of months and our final payment is due June 10.
Next, we are still waiting to find out the BIG needs of the orphanage. They may be things that we can buy in China, so donations would still be helpful, but here are some other ideas. There are about 50 children in the orphanage that we will be working in. Thirty of them are under the age of one. The other 30 are ages 1 through 12. Our team leader mentioned making a "toiletries pack" for the older children. You might take a BIG ziplock bag and out travel sized items such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, soap, shampoo, etc. Please remember that our packing space in limited, but we should be able to accommodate these items.
Also, she gave us some ideas for gifts for the nannies...bath soaps and lotions, notecards, art/picture books, bookmarks, writing instruments, and various other small gift items. She said that they liked things that are from the area where we are from (hence the picture of the Texas flag at the top) and they would rather not have things that are made in China....I wonder why!?! Anyway, if anyone has little Texas themed things that they would like to donate, we would appreciate them! I think that we are the only people in our group from Texas so we want to show them how great Texans are! Yee-ha!
We will also be in charge of theme days for the older (ages 1-12) children. My husband and I are taking on Safari Day so if you have any ideas for crafts, songs, etc., I would love to hear them! I have some ideas, but I would appreciate help!
Thank you to all that are reading this! We appreciate your support and love! We are so excited to be involved in this trip and to give a little back compared with all the we have been given!
