We are going to be parents...in two to three years! We are in the process of adopting a little girl (or twins) from China! Yea!! It is official enough for us to tell our parents, so I figured that my blogging friends could know as well! We started the process back in February and after much paperwork and secrecy, we figured that it was time to tell the world! We had three of our home study interviews this past weekend and since our social worker saw no red flags with us as people and parents (thank goodness) we told our families this weekend. We bought several pairs of girlie baby shoes (for 12-18 months) and wrapped them in Chinese take out boxes along with a few fortune cookies. We had to tell a few stories to make it to the DFW area for the interviews, but everyone understood! (My hubby said that he was working...which was not a lie! He was working on getting them all a grandchild!) We told my mother-in-law first because she was the closest and she was excited. Then we returned home late Saturday night with a house full of my family and decided to tell them after breakfast Sunday morning. My grandparents were visiting from West Texas so that made it even better. We wanted to wait until Christmas so we could have everyone together, but it worked out that they were together this weekend, too! They were excited as well! All that to say that we are expecting... from China! We are not officially logged-in (adoption term: LID... Log-in-date) to China. We still have one more home study interview on June 14th, but we wanted them to get it done before we left for our mission trip. Then we have to send our home study reports to several people and then I have to turn 30! After August 3 (birthday), we should be good to go, but it may take a little longer for the paperwork to make it everywhere! We put in for a little girl or twins, from birth to 1 year old. The current wait time for China is 28 months and is typically increasing a month each month. By the time that we are LID in China, it might be 30. We know whatever the wait that God has the perfect child or children waiting for us. She probably has not even been born yet! So our journey has begun! I will fill in more details later and post pics of the proud grandparents and great grandparents to be soon! I can't wait to be a mommy to someone who does not bark!
***Disclaimer: This crawling little girl is not our child! She was just too cute with the pigtails that I had to add the picture!
