But, I will say this...I got to come home to this!
This morning when I was getting ready for work (the thing that I did not want to come home to) I walked into the laundry room to find this! It is a first, but I am pretty sure that Dekker (right) does not mind too much being a big brother to Dudley! They are just too fun and I wish that I could stay at home with them all day...you know, instead of work! Making sure I made my point!Monday, March 2, 2009
Back to the real world.
You ever have those weekends or even days that you just don't want to end? This weekend we went with some friends to Fort Worth for the Cowtown half marathon. We all took Friday off work and rode the Amtrak train there. That was an experience within itself. It was really fun and I would recommend it it you do not have to be there at a certain time! It was great. My hubby and our other two friends were running the half marathon and I was the "cruise director". Everything was within walking distance so I planned meals and entertainment! We arrived Friday around 1:30pm and grabbed lunch at P.F. Chang's. We shopped a little bit, (got some cute, new boots, but sadly, I have no picture) and then headed back to the hotel to get settled a little bit. That night we went to Riscky's Barbecue. Yummy! He we are after enjoying a great meal! Then back to the hotel for a good night's sleep! Me, being the supportive wife that I am, opted to sleep in instead of heading down at 7:00am in the sub-freezing temps and 35 mph winds to support my man! I did wake up at 5:15am and stay awake for an hour while he got ready. When I woke up (for real!), I could hear lots of people and looked out of my third story window to see the finish line RIGHT BELOW ME! Wow! I started getting ready and knew that hubby wanted to finish the half in a little less than 2 hours. So, since I could see the race clock, I watched from 1:45 until it rolled over the two hour mark for him, with no luck. About that time, I hear banging at the door and it was him. He finished in 1:37:10! Isn't he the greatest! So much better than all of his other times! I am so proud of him! (Sadly, no pictures of him, either! I was so bad with my camera.) We met up with our friends, who did awesome as well and had lunch at Uno's Chicago Grill for all of us to Carbo load...them since they ran so much, me just for fun! After that we caught a movie (in which no one fell asleep) and then back to the hotel for a little afternoon nap. We had dinner reservations at 6:00pm at Simply Fondue, which I would highly recommend. None of us had been to a fondue place before and it was so much fun! Again, no pictures! Bad me! After overindulging ourselves, back to the hotel for more sleep. Sunday brought more food (did I mention this was a good weekend)...breakfast at the Hilton (also the hotel that JFK stayed in during his last night alive...ever!) and lunch, again at P.F. Chang's. They just can't get enough. Here is a quick pic of my hubby and the terracotta warrior. We hurried to Barnes & Noble to buy some cards to teach them a new game on the train home and then we were East Texas bound. This is where is starts getting sad. The weekend was fun and I just did not want to come back. The weekend was not magical, absolutely incredible, or phenomenal, it was just fun...and not work, so I did not want to return to the real world where work is a part of every yucky day!
