Back in 2001, I bought a new Tahoe. I loved my Tahoe. I was very particular about my new car and never allowed anyone to have food or drinks in in for over two years. I remember the first person that my friends caught with a drink in my car. It was Wes Craig (God love him) and he did not know the rules of riding in my car. Poor guy only had a cup of water and all of our friends tattled on him. We pulled over for him to dump it out, but it was all downhill from there! (Don't worry Wes, I have forgiven you! :) Since then, there have been countless meals eaten in my car and numerous drinks spilled in the floorboard. All of that was preparing me for something greater...
Moving now to last fall. I have always wanted a red Beetle. When the new Beetle's came out, I was in love with them, but I had a pretty new Firebird at that point and it seemed unnecessary to make the trade. But last fall, I bought my little red Beetle because I was able to pay cash for it. It was a convertible, tan top, tan leather interior. Bun warmers to take the chill off those fall days. Just a beautiful little car. It was LOVE at first sight. But as I mentioned before, it was not meant to be...for long.
I now have a new ride. My Tahoe, Beetle, and I parted ways a couple of weeks ago. It was hard to say good-bye to each of them, but we needed to start planning for the future. So we welcomed a new (to us) 2007 Tahoe into our family. It matches my husband's 2007 Avalanche perfectly, but it is ready for the task that is ahead...children. No, we are not expecting right now, but being in line in China has made us think about what we need to prepare for. Since I would like to stay at home with my kids, we knew that we would not want a car payment when that time came. But, if we keep our current Tahoe, it would be over 10 years old at the point that our China Doll came home and not be worth anything for trade. So, the decision was made, trade two and pay the new/used one off now.
This time we got the kid essentials...leather seats (for easy wipe down), bucket seats in the second row (for easy access to the back seat), automatic lift-gate (for arms that are full of strollers and baby things), entertainment package (for those long trips to visit the grandparents and for mommy and daddy's sanity), backup sensors (for the trikes, and bikes sure to be left in the driveway and hopefully not to sense kids behind the vehicle), and the list goes on. It even has a few things for mom and dad to enjoy until the babies arrive...heated seats, navigation system, DVD player in the front (which we are soon to disable the safety feature to be able to watch movies while going down the road...shhh, don't tell GM), XM radio (which I never thought I would pay for because radio should be free, OnStar (which is probably worth the expense), and 4-wheel drive (just for daddy).
So welcome our new friend. We hope that you stay with us for a long time...and lots of happy memories. Now bring on the babies!!
