Happy Mother's Day!

Since I typically do not post on the weekends, I thought that I would go ahead and wish a Happy Mother's Day to everyone. I have several special people in my life who are mother's. Of course my own mom, my Grams and Nana, my great-grandmother's, Granny Seigler, my mother-in-law, my hubby's grandmother, my aunts, cousins, sister-in-laws, and friends. Each time I think of these people, I think of the kind of woman they are, what they have taught me, what they continue to teach me, and what I can learn from them. I am amazed and blessed by the kinds of examples that the women I know set for me.

I was reading on my cousin's blog the other day about the Proverbs 31 woman. I have always heard these verses growing up, but probably the most memorable time I can remember hearing them was at my Grams' funeral. She was a shining example of the Proverbs 31 woman. She was not perfect, but she was so close you could not tell! She loved her God, her husband, her family, and her friends so much and lived out God's love in those relationships. The verse that we used at our wedding (which is at the bottom of my blog) is 1 John 4:12, "No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God lives in us and His love is perfected in us." To me that relates to the Proverbs 31 woman. She loves her God and her family and others around her so much that people can see God and His love through her.

So to borrow from Sommer's blog (who borrowed it from another friend), this is my new prayer for each day.

I want to be the woman who's husband trusts her, who does him good and not harm all the days of her life, who works with willing hands, who rises before everyone else to take care of needs like clothing and food, a woman who dresses herself with strength physically and spiritually, one who works until the work is done, the one who keeps things steady, who helps the needy, who makes herself appealing for her husband, one who is proud of her husband and lets people know it, who has much dignity, one who overflows with wisdom and has a kind tongue, one who is not lazy, a woman who's children call her blessed and her husband praises her, one who remembers that charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised!(Proverbs 31:10-31)

Happy Mother's Day to all my friends and loved ones out there. May you strive each day to be the Godly woman that you have called to be. In my eyes, you already are and I hope to one day, join your ranks as a mom. (Just pray that it is not ten years away!)

Happy Mother's Day!
