Five years ago today, I was here. It was my first visit to New York City and a memorable one at that. I saw and experienced so much in my first day there. Riding the NY subway for the first time. Seeing Ground Zero and being filled with emotion. Boarding the Staten Island Ferry in the rain and catching a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty through the fog. Standing by the bull in front of the New York Stock Exchange. Walking halfway across the Brooklyn Bridge. Experiencing Chinatown. Eating a hot dog on the curb in Times Square. Riding a horse drawn carriage through Central Park. But this place, Bethesda Fountain, holds special memories. I walked down the stairs to a little spot in the upper left of this picture, almost right under the white banner. And I walked away with a ring on my left hand and a best friend for life.
