We were relieved a couple of weeks ago when we found out that we were allowed to go back to Fushun this year. The swine flu had interfered with out plans, but we were blessed by this news. But, on Monday (yes, two days ago), we found out that Fushun has once again be closed to us. There are ten reported cases of swine flu in the Liaoning province so they will not let us in. It is a huge disappointment, to say the least, but it is even worse because we leave in six days and we have no idea where we are going. Our original plan was to stay at Shepherd's Field, outside Beijing, for the first two nights we are there and then fly to Fushun. We now have two options, but we are not sure how either of them are going to work. And we have not heard anything since Monday. Stress? Nah, no stress here. Not me and my OCD self. NOTHING is packed. NOTHING is planned. NOTHING is concrete. Not to mention that between work, family visiting, appointments, emotions, and life in general, we have a very full week. I DO know that I am not in control, which is hard for me, but Someone greater is and He is going to send us where He wants us.
Our options are to stay at Shepherd's Field for the duration of our time in China. That is, if they have the time and space to accommodate us for that long. Since this is last minute and they plan other groups to visit, we are not sure if this is a possibility. The second option is to go to an orphanage in Heng Feng. It is in a rural area and they need a lot of help. A group from Visiting Orphans is there now and things are going great. And it is pretty much all babies. If you have been reading my blog any, you know I have baby fever, so I am pulling for this place so I can get my baby fix. Plus, with us having a large group of about 16 people, I think that we could be a lot of help to them, even if it is just giving the nannies a break. VO is afraid to plan for us to go here in case they shut it due to the swine flu. So here we are, six days out. All we know is that we are going on a trip to somewhere!
