31 and counting!

Back to the real world after a good birthday weekend away...why are Monday's so hard? We just went to Dallas for the weekend, but we didn't want to tell anyone because our family lives an hour from the area. We love our family, but we wanted a weekend together to do what we wanted to do and go where we wanted to go without having to try to carve in time for everyone else. It was nice.

Friday afternoon, we headed out after work. We made a quick stop by a mall and then headed to one of our favorite spots for dinner, Freebirds. We are not fancy people! It was so close to our hotel and usually we would get it to go, but we decided to eat there and enjoy it. It was starting to lightning outside, but instead of heading to our hotel, we hit a Half-Price Books, which might be one of our new favorite stores. I am reading anything that I can get my hands on and I found two books that I have been waiting for in our local libraries. Plus, I got them for $1 each! We went and checked in to our hotel about the time that the winds started getting bad. We opened our blinds on the ninth floor and enjoyed a lightning show and a view of Dallas.

Saturday morning (early) we headed to McKinney for my hubby to have a foot reading. I was not sure what a foot reading was before then, but they stand you on this big scanner and scan your feet to see how you walk on them. It was at a running store and a shoe company sponsored it. They told him what shoes that he needed to get (which he did get) along with a few other details. I stood by and watched. Then we met up with Teura, a friend of ours who went to China with us the last two years. She is from Utah and was there with her family for her sisters to compete in a pageant. T had been there for over a week and had not been anywhere except her hotel. She was leaving that day, but as we were enjoying breakfast, her dad called and said that they were going to stay another day. So, we kidnapped T and took her to some of our favorite places (which mostly involved food). On the list...Popcorn Papa, the Nestle Tollhouse shop, Frulatti, Sprinkles Cupcakes, and California Pizza Kitchen.

After we dropped her off at her hotel, we headed to Grapevine Mills and to Southlake for dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum! Sunday we slept in later than usual (meaning 7:00 am) and then took our time going through Central Market. We discussed how we hate our local grocery store and how we should start making monthly trip to CM to get groceries. We both love, Love, LOVE it! After a quick run through Richardson Bike Mart, lunch at P.F. Changs, at shopping at Northpark (complete with hubby's first straight razor shave) we headed home. (Hubby got a lot more than I did this weekend so next year on his birthday, I get to celebrate! And, I didn't get a Harley for my birthday, either! Help me remind him of all of this next year!) Our furry children were so glad to see us, but Monday was only a few short hours away!

Yesterday was my actual birthday and it came and went without any fanfare, which I am totally okay with. Since I was working, it did not even seem like it was my birthday, which is probably better. I do not think that 31 is old, but I am realizing that it is older than I sometimes think that I am. I joke that I am on the wrong side of 30 now or that I can no longer say that I am 30, but in my thirties. It could be worse! Like my hubby says, I would rather be old than take the dirt nap. So here's to another year and hopefully some good changes before next year rolls around!

Sounds like you had a great weekend. Mine was equally as good.. I am definitely on the wrong side of 30.. exactly twice your age. :)
