The city of Fushun

I have a calendar on my desk at work that is a daily prayer calendar for China. It was given out to churches by the International Mission Board and my boss gave it to me because she knows my heart for China. Each day it gives you a different place or people group in China to pray for. Well, today it was Fushun! That is where we are going on our mission trip! How cool is that?!?
Here is what it says: "Redeemer God, most of the 1.4 million people in Fushun, in Liaoning Province, are living out their lives in spiritual poverty, deprived of the joy and peace found in You. I ask You to have mercy on them, Reveal to them that hope is only found in Jesus Christ. Stir up the few believers there and send other Christians to proclaim the name of Jesus. Let Your name be glorified in Fushun"
There is also a scripture with this prayer, which is Acts 4:12, "And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."
One of my favorite songs is "Rescue" by NewSong and it is based on this verse. I first heard it at the Winter Jam concert back in March and it was played as background during a video of an orphanage in China that NewSong visited. I think that I will always think of the footage of the orphans when I hear that song and I think that it is fitting that this scripture is used for the prayers of Fushun and the orphanage that we will visit.
I sent this to the other team members that are going on the trip to Fushun and I ask all of you that are reading my blog to pray for Fushun today. Pray that God will prepare their hearts and that our team will be given the opportunity to tell the people of Fushun about the love, joy, and peace the only Jesus Christ can give!
