It is "Random Picture Wednesday" once again! This is the front of the building that my friend, Richard, lives in. It is in downtown Dallas and is really a cool place! We went to visit him this weekend and I have to admit that I was a little unsure of the downtown area. Growing up so close to Dallas, we always heard scary stories of downtown. And when we happened to go to that area, it did not seem like a safe place. When I went to Singapore four years ago, I spent my 25th birthday walking around the city, by myself, at night! I was never afraid! But downtown Dallas has always made me afraid!
Well, that changed this weekend! They have really tried to do a lot to make the downtown area more appealing. I have to admit that it appealed to me! We walked from Rich's loft, to dinner at a fun place and were able to eat on the roof deck and enjoy the beautiful weather. Then we walked to several places downtown. I really enjoyed myself and I wasn't fearful for my life at any point! Downtown really has changed! I didn't think that I would enjoy it as much as I did, but I could see us living there. Not that I don't enjoy the country and not having neighbors that are right up against us, but I guess because it is so different appeals to me! Thanks Rich for sharing it with me! You knew that I would love it!
On a different note, we are getting back into garage sale mode! We are planning another one for the second weekend in June to raise a little more money towards our trip and the needs of the orphanage. We are about $1500 short on our trip, but we know that we can come up with it somehow...I am more worried about the needs of the orphanage. We have decided that the money that my parent's Sunday School class is collecting is going to go directly to the needs of the orphanage. They need it more than we do! Thanks to our friends Larry and Jeannie who donated towards our trip this weekend! Also, thanks to my boss, Melissa, who made four beautiful fleece blankets for the orphans! We really appreciate it and would not be this close to our goal without all our friends and family! Please continue to pray for us as we prepare and raise money! We know that we are called to do this!
Hope you enjoyed "Random Picture Wednesday"! Since you know where he lives now, don't stalk my friend, Richard! He might stalk you back!
