Memorial Day is only a few days away and I am thankful to have the day off this year. Although I always had several days off at my previous job, Memorial and Labor days were not among those unless I wanted to give up some vacation time. This year, I get it off for free. We plan on using our extra day to watch the Texas Rangers take on the New York Yankees. I'm not much of a baseball fan, but who can resist carpooling three hours with some of your closest friends and a whole bunch of people that you really don't know that well, tailgating in the parking lot with Nathan's hot dogs and maybe some burgers from Central Market (if I can find one close), and enjoying a day that many people have given their lives for...a day that I am free to make my own decision on what I want to do! There is a reason that it is called Memorial Day. Take time on Monday (wherever you are) to stop and think about the many people who gave their lives to make our country free. Pray for our troops that are trying to give others that same freedom, pray for our country as we desperately need God's guidance in every step we take right now, and thank God for all of your blessings. I know that I am!
On that note, here are some things that I am blessed to be able to do right now...
- Continue on with our adoption knowing that it will be probably the longest wait of our lives. I know without a doubt that in the end, it will all be worth it. We may wait 10 months or 10 years, but one day, we will hold our China Doll and know that she was meant to be ours!
- Give thanks for my sweet hubby who takes care of me and does everything he can to make me happy. He is such a blessing and meant for me. I am glad that I can slow down enough to enjoy him lately.
- Love on my two furry children. Dekker and Dudley have their own special section of my heart. They are so different, but so exactly like my husband and myself. They help make our family complete...at least for now!
- Have a job! Many people right now cannot say that and I am blessed that I have one that is better preparing me for the future, whatever that might be. I am blessed that I am able to take off for our mission trip after only being here for six months.
- Enjoy my family and friends who are always a constant source of fun, support, blessings, and faith.
- Trust God! I know that it is only He that holds me in the palm of His hands. He knows all my fears, desires, shortcomings, and loves me anyway. I know that He has more in store for me than I can imagine!
Enjoy!
